Brendan Rendall is running from Chitipa to Nsanje in aid of raising funds for the construction of science school block to the Friend of Mulanje Orphans (FOMO) a charity organization.
Speaking during the stopover at Kamuzu Road in Salima District, Rendall said he was inspired with FOMO and decided to help and do something good by organising the run from Chitipa to Nsanje in order to raise funds for the organisation.
“The money am raising would support the building of Science blocks at Friends of Mulanje Orphans Secondary School and at the same time assisting them to run the institution in one way or another,” he said.
He said education is the key to many things, that’s why he is doing this race so that he may raise funds for the building of classroom blocks to FOMO.
“I wake up at half past five in the morning before it gets too hot and have a very short break after 21 kilometres, have some food and the race takes me 5 hours a day,” explained Rendall.
Rendall therefore urged Malawian well-wishers to join him in raising these funds for the organisation.
He explained that the run would take him 25 to 27 days and expected to raise the money amounting to MK35 million.
Meanwhile Rendall has covered 1136 kilometres representing 15 marathons already and remaining with 10 marathons.
On his way from Chitipa, Rendall was joined by the outgoing British High Commissioner to Malawi, Michael Nervin, Police Officers and members of Friends of Mulanje Orphan Organisation at Kaphatenga Roadblock in Salima District.
FOMO is an organisation registered with Charity Commission in England which helps over 4000 orphans in Mulanje District
